Awards Program

An Annual Awards Banquet and Program is held in August to recognize landowners who have done outstanding work in soil conservation, windbreak establishment, and wildlife habitat development.

Wildlife Habitat Award

The Wildlife Habitat Award is given to a landowner or producer who has planted or seeded an area to enhance and increase wildlife habitat.

Troy & Rachel Van Roekel of Orange City were chosen as the Wildlife Habitat Award Winner.  The wildlife area is located south of Orange City in section 19 of Nassau Township and consists of 160 acres seeded to pollinator habitat.  In 2019, they began planting a variety of trees around the farmstead, including Red Oak, Silver Maple, Norway Spruce, Ponderosa Pine, and Black Hills Spruce.
